knowledge for a resilient future
Project Description
Overview: "A True Paradise" is an impactful series of short documentary films that engage with some of the world’s leading scientists, activists, and diplomats, offering a profound and broad look at the current climate crisis. Through open and direct conversations, our film series presents their assessments, fears, and hopes, encouraging viewers to reflect honestly on the pressing environmental challenges we face today.
Vision: As viewers journey through our films, a profound realization emerges: committing to the necessary actions to avert climate collapse is not just a necessity; it is an opportunity to create a true paradise. This vision fosters a more just, healthy, purposeful, and collaborative society—one where empathy and cooperation become paramount as we navigate our collective survival.
Content Focus: Our short films aim to raise awareness, build knowledge, and inspire engagement on resilience and climate change mitigation. Each episode features heartfelt interviews with respected experts and activists who convey inconvenient truths with sincerity, connecting emotionally with audiences and empowering them to take action. Importantly, these films also showcase solutions and hopeful developments, offering a balanced perspective that avoids any greenwashing or unrealistic belief in technological solutions.
Educational Approach: Designed for a global audience, our films distill complex climate science into accessible narratives that educate and motivate. The accompanying website will serve as an encyclopedic resource, helping users understand key vocabulary in the climate change discourse (such as global justice, ecofeminism, or attribution science) and stay informed on main debates (like mitigation vs. adaptation, debt relief or climate reparations). By raising awareness of individual CO2 impact and responsibilities, we aim to foster a sense of agency through knowledge.
Interactive Online Platform: Our ambition is to create an interactive, visually engaging online platform—a growing audiovisual encyclopedia of climate knowledge and activism. Users will explore vital insights and perspectives through keyword-based searches, encouraging deeper understanding and inspiring meaningful actions in their communities.
The platform aims to serve as a definitive resource for fact-checked, solid knowledge on climate change, cutting through the cacophony of fragmented information and disinformation prevalent online. By equipping users with reliable insights and a comprehensive understanding of their role in the crisis, we empower them to make informed choices and take meaningful action.
Support and Opportunities: To continue this vital work, we seek funding for the production of additional films, opportunities to distribute our content through media partnerships, and financing for the development of our comprehensive website. With over 15 years of experience in short documentaries on climate change and global justice, and as award-winning filmmakers, we aim to establish a non-profit organization to facilitate direct financing, subsidies, and donations that will support our mission to educate and inspire action against climate change.
Join us in striving for a true paradise—where knowledge inspires agency and fosters a sustainable and equitable future for all.
Where we are heading - Kevin Anderson (2021)
Climate scientist Kevin Anderson warns that continuing on our current path could result in a 3-4°C temperature rise by the end of the century, a catastrophic outcome to be avoided at all costs. He cautions against believing the political rhetoric about progress in the fight against climate change and calls on us to push for bold policy changes.
